Huawei and Vodafone said in a statement: "Smart Parking will allow users to remotely access parking data from mobile applications, including viewing available parking spaces, navigating cars to available parking spaces, etc. In addition, the solution It can also create new revenue streams for municipal administrations, reduce the operating costs of public parking and alleviate traffic congestion. "
The Internet of Things is designed to make products "smart" by increasing the number of Internet connections. However, the Internet of Things mainly focuses on the indoor environment. However, Huawei and Vodafone's test is aimed at the outdoor environment. The test was designed to let the parking lot inform operators and car owners where and when they have available parking spaces.
For the next step, Huawei and Vodafone said both parties "will present smart parking demonstrations to Vodafone customers and visitors at the commercial convention and exhibition center at Vodafone Plaza in Madrid."
Huawei and Vodafone also plan to conduct another test in Turkey in early June and commercialize the technology in early 2017.
