China Drying Network News China Petrochemical Hubei Chemical Fertilizer Branch's 200,000-ton/year syngas ethylene glycol industrial demonstration plant was held in Zhijiang City, Hubei Province. The development of coal or natural gas to synthesize ethylene glycol through syngas is in line with the characteristics of China's lack of oil, low gas, and relatively abundant coal resources, and it is an exemplary project encouraged by the state. Hubei Chemical Fertilizer's 200,000-ton/year syngas ethylene glycol industrial demonstration unit intends to use the existing syngas from the Shell pulverized coal gasification plant to produce ethylene glycol using the syngas technology developed independently by Sinopec. After the completion of the project, it will not only lay the foundation for the adjustment of product structure, implementation of recycling economy and energy conservation and emission reduction of Hubei Chemical Fertilizer Branch, but also will make positive contributions to the optimization and adjustment of Sinopec's raw material structure, development of coal chemical industry, and promotion of diversification of chemical raw materials. The project is a Sino-Petrol "Taj-Dragon" scientific and technological research project and a key construction project in 2012. It is planned to be completed and put into operation in 2013.
