In a parking lot on Xin'an Street in Bao’an District, dozens of laid-down rear-loading garbage trucks lie quietly under the hot sun and are rusty and weedy. The Baoan District Environmental Sanitation Department introduced that this old type of garbage truck was once the main force for garbage removal and transportation.
In April 2012, the Sanitation Department of the Municipality, together with the relevant administrative departments, conducted a joint investigation and enforcement of the city’s garbage trucks. It was found that the situation of the rear-mounted garbage trucks running through the drips and polluting the environment was more prominent. Subsequently, the city's sanitation department issued a document requesting that in early 2013, it completely banned rear-loading garbage trucks and replace it with the garbage removal mode of this type of hook-and-arm vehicle carrying a closed garbage compression box. So far, Baoan District has basically completed the replacement. However, the compression box plus a hook-and-arm car, a set of equipment will have more than 500,000 yuan, these costs are borne by the government finance and sanitation companies, and some rear-mounted garbage trucks have not yet reached the end of the scrap period, which has caused many sanitation companies to complain No more.
It is understood that only the Bao'an District has completely suspended the operation permission for rear-mounted garbage trucks, but it still left more than 20 green wastes for emergency use and removal and transportation, while other areas have not made much progress. Up to now, there are still more than 200 rear-mounted garbage trucks in operation in the city, accounting for about 20% of all garbage trucks. Industry associations have stated that they have required all environmental sanitation companies to no longer purchase rear-load garbage trucks, and they will be eliminated naturally after the old ones are scrapped, and the gradual upgrading of the garbage removal mode will be realized.
