Emerson wins automation contract for Shell Prelude floating LNG facility

Recently, Shell announced that it has selected Emerson to provide automated maintenance and reliable service for Shell Prelude Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) facilities.

According to reports, Prelude is the world's largest floating production facility, with an area equivalent to six aircraft carriers, which will collect and process natural gas from subsea wells on the Western Australian coast.

It is reported that Emerson will be the main automation contractor for the Prelude FLNG project, responsible for process control and monitoring technology to help operate the facility.

Under this new multi-year support contract, Emerson will provide reliable maintenance services for a wide range of equipment on the facility. Emerson and its Australian partner Western Process Controls will provide equipment monitoring, diagnostic services, component support, control and safety system maintenance, including thousands of tools and valves. Emerson will also arrange for the team to remotely monitor the facility's automation system.
