DSM and French starch producer Roquette announced on January 18 that the two parties will cooperate to develop bio-functional materials, including polymers, using renewable succinic acid (succinic acid) as a raw material.
Succinic acid is now produced from crude oil and natural gas, used as intermediates for the production of several high-performance polymers, as well as many other industrial applications such as medicine, food, and automobiles. The two sides will build a verification device with a capacity of several hundred tons per year in France and it is expected to be put into operation next year. DSM will further build world-scale installations within two years.
The use of renewable resources in the fermentation process, in addition to energy-saving 30% to 40%, can also be used in the process of CO2.
